The Experience

Tie the Knot — Quite Literally

Handfasting is an old tradition in which a couple's hands are symbolically bound together as part of a ceremony of commitment. At GARF, it becomes a memorable moment within your Festival day — whether you are celebrating a new commitment, renewing your vows, marking an anniversary, or simply choosing a wonderfully unconventional way to celebrate your story.

Want it to count on paper too? Bring a valid marriage license and our officiant can sign it. Prefer to keep it purely symbolic? Equally welcome. Either way, the Festival village in Fairburn, just south of Atlanta, does the decorating for you.

  • Renaissance handfasting ceremony with officiant

How It Works

  1. Reserve Your Festival Date

    Choose an available Spring 2027 Festival operating date and complete your reservation online. Fall 2027 dates will be available in February.

  2. We Build the Day's Schedule

    Handfasting ceremony times are coordinated around the Festival's official entertainment schedule.

  3. We Contact You

    No later than 30 days before your reserved Festival date, a GARF team member will contact you to confirm your ceremony time and collect the names of the couple, included guests, and any additional information needed for the ceremony.

  4. Come Celebrate

    Arrive for your Festival day, gather your guests, and enjoy your handfasting ceremony as part of your Renaissance Festival experience.

You reserve a Festival date at purchase, not a specific ceremony time. Ceremony times are assigned by GARF and communicated no later than 30 days before your reserved date.

Good to Know

Reservation Details

Handfasting reservations are limited — only four are sold for each Festival date — and all sales are final.

  • One date change may be requested at least 30 days before the originally reserved Festival date, subject to availability.
  • Reservations are for a Festival date, not a specific ceremony time. Ceremony times are assigned by GARF no later than 30 days before the event.
  • Missed ceremonies and no-shows are nonrefundable.
  • If GARF cancels the operating day or is unable to provide the reserved ceremony, guests will be offered a transfer to another available date or a refund.
